
As Special Advisor, Professor Nick Braisby draws from his vast knowledge and expertise gained through an accomplished career in academia to further Regent Hill London’s mission of empowering students and delivering outstanding, accessible education.
Nick’s academic career began with an undergraduate degree in Natural Sciences (Psychology) from Queens’ College, University of Cambridge. He continued his doctoral work in cognitive science at the University of Edinburgh, where he developed a sustained research programme on the nature of concepts and word meaning.
Following a British Academy postdoctoral fellowship at the London School of Economics, Nick held academic roles at London Guildhall University, The Open University, the University of Winchester and London South Bank University.
Nick’s career journey included the role of Pro Vice-Chancellor (Education) at the University of West London before joining Buckinghamshire New University (BNU) as Deputy Vice-Chancellor in 2017. He was then appointed Vice-Chancellor in February 2019.
Under his leadership, BNU achieved recognition as the number one UK university for student satisfaction in the National Student Survey 2024 and was featured in the Top 10 for Teaching Quality in The Sunday Times Good University Guide 2025.
In addition, Nick is a Principal Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, an Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society, and Chair of the Buckinghamshire Health and Social Care Academy and the Buckinghamshire University Technical College. He serves on the Board of the University College of Estate Management and the Audit and Resource committees of Universities UK.
