Academic and study skills support

How we help students

Our Academic and Study Skills (ASK) team is committed to helping you develop the skills and confidence you need to succeed in your studies. Support is available in a variety of ways, including in-class sessions, one-to-one guidance, webinars and an extensive library of digital resources. You can access these resources at any time through the Regent Digital app or portal.

One-to-one and small group support sessions

For personalised support, all students can book a one-to-one appointment with our ASK team. Small group sessions are also available, giving you the opportunity to explore relevant topics, develop your academic skills and learn alongside other students.

GUIDANCE AND SUPPORT MATERIALS

Helping you develop strong academic and study skills is a key priority for our ASK team. That’s why we continually create practical resources, including how-to guides, fact sheets and useful advice to support you throughout your studies. All these resources can be easily accessed through the Regent Digital app or portal.

E-LIBRARY AND ACADEMIC RESOURCES

RHL students have access to an extensive collection of e-books, journals and academic resources to support their studies. We also provide guidance and training to help you make the most of these resources, while developing the information literacy and research skills you need to succeed in your studies.

IN-CLASS TRAINING

ASK learning resources are also integrated into teaching, with academic staff using relevant materials during classes and seminars to support your learning. If you need additional help with specific academic skills, such as referencing or note-taking, teaching staff can also invite the ASK team to deliver dedicated in-class sessions, providing practical guidance and support.

Academic skills webinars

Each semester, we organise a series of expert-led interactive webinars covering the key attributes and abilities required for successful higher education study. All RHL students are welcome to attend these sessions, which are hosted on Microsoft Teams and available as part of our student development programme, SCOPE.
